CC New Releases keeps you ahead of what is coming out each week so you never miss a book you want. Instead of checking release calendars manually, the extension pulls upcoming issues from the Comic Vine API on a weekly schedule, filters them through your publisher whitelist, and organizes everything into a browsable release calendar with cover images, dates, and prices.
The pull list is where it gets personal. Follow any combination of publishers, series, or specific Comic Vine volumes, and the extension automatically surfaces upcoming releases that match. Your pull list updates itself every time new data comes in, giving you a curated view of only the books you are tracking. A separate watch list lets you keep an eye on titles you are not fully committed to yet, and you can promote a watched title to your pull list whenever you are ready.
Five tabs in the admin dashboard give you full control. My Pull List shows your followed releases with date range filters for this week, the next two weeks, or the full month ahead. Browse All lets you explore every fetched release with search and publisher filters, and add anything to your pull or watch list with one click. The Watch List tab holds titles you are still deciding on. Manage gives you a sortable, searchable table of every release in the database with bulk delete and cleanup tools. Settings lets you toggle auto-fetch, adjust how many weeks ahead to look, manage your publisher whitelist, import releases from CSV, and configure email digests.
A weekly HTML email digest lands in the inbox of every user who has at least one follow. Each digest is personalized, showing two sections: releases matching the user’s pull list, and new issues in series the user already owns in their collection. Releases are grouped by publisher with cover thumbnails, issue numbers, dates, and prices. A one-click unsubscribe link is included in every email.
When a release hits the shelves and you pick it up, marking it as “Bought” does two things at once. It updates your pull list status and adds the comic directly to your core Comic Collector collection with the title, issue number, publisher, series, cover price, and cover image already filled in. No duplicate data entry required.
The extension also bridges to CC Wishlist and Alerts when both are active. If you see an upcoming release you want but are not sure you will find it locally, an “Add to Wishlist” button pushes it to your monitored want list so you can get notified when it appears on eBay or other marketplaces. Every release card also includes a “Find on eBay” link with built-in affiliate tracking for quick searching.
On the public side, the cc_new_releases shortcode displays your release calendar for visitors. Logged-in users can toggle between all releases and their personal pull list view. Releases that match comics already in the user’s collection get a green “In Your Collection” badge so they know they already own that series. Guest visitors see the full calendar with eBay search links.
Data sourcing is reliable. Comic Vine is the primary source, with automatic Metron API fallback if Comic Vine returns empty results. A configurable publisher whitelist (defaulting to 28 major publishers) filters out noise so your release database stays focused on the titles your audience actually cares about. You can also import releases manually via CSV or add individual issues by hand from the Browse tab.
CC New Releases is for collectors who want to stay current without the effort. Whether you are building a weekly pull list, tracking new issues in long-running series you collect, or helping your site’s visitors discover what is coming out next, the extension automates the entire workflow from discovery to collection.
